I chose Barbers because I had an immediate response from a lovely lady called Julie. The same day I received a quote from them which was excellent. To cut a long story short, I had to change the date of the move, which was immediately accepted, without question. Julie was wonderful throughout. The men arrived on time, they were a great and friendly bunch and so very quick loading all of our things.
They then drove to the new property and, again were very quick and always very nice and helpful, even though I had filled the boxes rather too much . I truly recommend them and hope that they have continued success. A very big THANK YOU TO ALL.

I contacted "Margaret " at J A Barber removals on 27th April with a moving date of 31st May 2018 from London to Shropshire. Ample time you would think to arrange what was to be a very simple move. how wrong was I! 3 weeks later after filling in a 3 page form and several phone calls I still had no answer. I finally received a call from "Joe" 2 WEEKS before my move, informing me that because I had mentioned I may be flexible by 1 day that he had given away my date of 31st and could I do the 7th JUNE!
Anyone who has ever uprooted their life and moved will know how important it is to have everything organised around your completion date. I am a single 61 year old and this is not easy for me, you would think a removal company would also be acutely aware, well not J A BARBER! "Joe" fully admitted his wrongdoing and said it was because I had not finalised the date. bit difficult without a quote JOE!
I was then offered BANK HOLIDAY FRIDAY! Perfect day to travel as everyone who has any sense knows and the exact reason i had booked the Thursday! Despite my pleading and tears "Joe" decided that he had no solution and so he put the phone down on me! Great customer service "Joe"! I rang back and surprise surprise no one would answer. so I told "Margaret" and "Joe" exactly how unprofessional and poor I thought their company was by answerphone, and assured them I would be passing on my opinions to anyone who asked for it.! "Margaret" and "Joe" took this as a threat and then proceeded to THREATEN ME with legal action!
I believe in freedom of speech and I also believe that when you receive such shoddy treatment at a time of such stress and upheaval you should not take it lying down. J A BARBER have made my move WAY more stressful and upsetting than it should have been and i have the right to express that opinion of them based on my treatment. After all that is what a review site is for, right?
This story does have a happy ending though. I have found a wonderful company who are moving me on 31st for 560 inclusive of vat! AND they gave me a quote within 3 minutes over the phone! (Lesson to be learned "Joe"!) I am not in the business of sullying people's reputations, but in an age of such competitiveness, and when stress levels are sky high I feel the very least a company can do is be honest with you in the beginning, and give you the chance to make other arrangements. Relying on the old adage that you "have been in the business 32 years and are well respected" doesn't cut it I'm afraid.
You are only as good as your last job and this was not a moment of glory "Margaret & Joe"! I leave you to make up your own minds about J A Barbers, I personally know my opinion!

Joe carried out a house clearance for us recently. He went to view the property the day after I spoke to him and gave us a firm quote (something most other house clearance people refused to do - only giving estimates based on a daily rate instead). The price was fair and we were very happy with the service. The house was cleared completely in accordance with our instructions and it was done quickly. I hope we won't need to clear anyone else's house but if we did, I wouldn't hesitate to ask JA Barber to do it.
