This company went above and beyond with helping me with my removal. Fantastic ladies in the office who reassured me that everything will be ok as I have not used a removal company before. I was downsizing from a 5 bed house to a 3 bed so I had a lot of items. They made arrangements for me to store some items until I decide what to do with them and at a reasonable price. Start to finish the team were very helpful and professional from start to finish.

We had been recommended to Hobbs by a friend who had used them in February 2021. They had a similar property with outbuildings and it was a large scale move, so we were happy they could cope. The early communication was excellent and their flexibility of changing dates etc. was very reassuring. The first day of packing went very smoothly with the approximately 75% of our contents wrapped and packed onto the first lorry.
The last thing I was concerned about on move day was the removal company. Sadly, this is where they failed us on so many levels. Because we had a very tight timeline from exchange to completion, we agreed to have just the remaining contents from the house moved on move day, with the rest following a few days later. However, they arrived with one lorry instead of the agreed three, expecting to leave the garden and outbuilding contents for collection on another day.
I had to manage this with the new buyers and thankfully they agreed for us to collect the next day. None of the remaining items inside or out were packed correctly, which meant we had numerous items damaged, from our one year old American fridge/freezer (dented across both doors), to my Tower of London remembrance Poppy. The removal men on the day were in a real rush, constantly telling us they had to be back because of the driving hours and they didn't want to do this job anyway.
I had one man shout and threaten to walk off site because there was too much to do for the men allocated. I found myself pacifying the situation just to get us out of the house and on the road. I could go on with events over the coming days which demonstrated no professionalism, lack of accountability and a complete disregard for us as a customer.
We moved on Friday 28th May 2021 and despite providing receipts, writing a detailed letter and calling the business on different mobile numbers as well as their landline, I have failed to receive any reply or money from their insurance for the damages. During the sales pitch I was told if we packed ourselves, we wouldn't be covered for damage and they have everything insured. It seems they do provide good service sporadically from other reviews and my initial recommendation, but our experience has left us out of pocket and extremely disappointed.

Hobbs Removals and Storage is the worst possible company that you could choose to help you move. They seemed to be adaptable, flexible, and willing to take us on short notice. After the experience we have had with them, however, we will never use them again. Originally, they appeared very efficient as they instantly sent a member of staff over to complete a quote and then they followed up promptly with their quote of 2460, including disassembly and reassembly of several items of furniture.
As we were in a fairly large house with a lot of items this was a reasonable quote, and they were amenable to our tight schedule. This plays nothing but a blame game and take absolutely NO responsibility for the damage they caused to several of our items. They are very unprofessional and messed us around when it came to setting a date to move our belongings, despite assurances at the start that they were able to make the date.
When the time came for the company to actually transport our belongings, it became very apparent that they lack any care or consideration, mishandling and mistreating our belongings as if they were merely boxes of rubbish to be taken to the tip. We paid the additional 450 for the company to dismantle and then reassemble three beds, two desks, and a wardrobe, and this was all documented when the initial survey was conducted.
On the day, the team the ignored these instructions and only took apart the beds as there was no other way to remove them from our old property, and then placed them in the wrong rooms (ignoring our instructions). When it was mentioned, they would not rectify their mistake because the guys with the tools had already left, and they might be able to come back in a few days to switch them, so we had to do it ourselves.
The removed the doors to the wardrobe but did not bother disassembling the rest of it until they reached the new property and realised, they had not fit it through the doors. They then proceeded to drag the disassembled wardrobe across the drive of our new property, resulting in ugly scuff marks on the face of what was a lovely wardrobe. The two doors they had removed earlier were put on upside down when the wardrobe was reassembled as well.
In addition to the wardrobe, the company broke a vase with sentimental value, and explained they had not brought the second desk over as it began to split when they moved it. The first desk arrived unscathed (though the company did not bother disassembling this one like they were paid to) thankfully. When we returned to the old property the following day, we discovered not only was there a vast amount of our items strewn across the place, having perhaps fallen out of boxes and just been left, but the desk that they claimed was 'splitting' slightly was in two separate pieces.
Somehow this sturdy desk had been ripped in half, presumably as one person tried to carry it downstairs alone rather than ask for help or disassemble it (as they were paid to do!). Needless to say, they took absolutely no responsibility for the broken desk stating that WE should have disassembled it for them before they arrived! The property we moved from was left in a right state.
One full box, that I admit if forgot to tape, somehow made it over to the new property half full. The other half of the contents was sprawled across the floor at the old house. They left a large amount of our belongings in the house to the point where we had to hire a man and van to help us pick up the rest. When confronted, all Hobbs had to say was this it was our fault because we left loads of things unpacked. Needless to say, we are extremely disappointed in the service we got from this company and would highly discourage anyone from using them.

We recently used this company to move from Watford to Abbots Langley. We were very pleased with the team on the day, they were early for the job, packed everything up so quickly and moved us into the new house without any breakages.very professional. We thought the office staff were very helpful and certainly put me at ease in the lead up to the big day. I would definitely use these guys again.

AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE! Not even worth the one star that I am forced to put in order to post this honest review. Everything seemed ok at first. They were helpful and seemed down to earth. They appointed us a representative to communicate with, but I guess you get what you pay for. They ignored my instructions to leave my large flat screen TV and large computer monitor until I had packaged them in their original packaging.
I managed to get the TV into its box, which survived, but my expensive, less than a year old, 32" computer monitor that I need for my graphic design business was loaded onto their aging truck before I could package it. When confronted they advised me "it'll be fine mate!" It was not fine; the screen was inevitably smashed during the journey to the new house.
We contacted them and told them of the damage to that, and a couple of other items. Several attempts to contact them over a 2 month period resulted in them being extremely rude and unhelpful to me with an attitude so misplaced and unprofessional that I was left utterly speechless! Ultimately they sent me a cheque for 70 to replace 300 worth of monitor that was damaged purely by their neglect and lack of experience.
They also caused some damage to the brand new house we moved into because they rushed the job and the young people they employed seemed more interested in eyeing up my possessions than taking care of them. I would NEVER recommend this company and I intend to see this through to the bitter end. All they seemed interested in was getting their payment; which we made promptly and without issue. What a shame they didn't keep to their side of the bargain.

Since the owner left a friendly fake comment to my review, nothing has been done by them and the warrant issue by the Milton Keynes County Court still stands as of 9/10/2018 HORRENDOUS! They say they are a family business. They say they are based in Milton Keynes, Watford, Hertfordshire. LIES! We have taken them to court. 2000 in damages. There is a warrant and enforced judgement against them.
They destroyed our furniture. They destroyed the floors of our kitchen. SEE PICTURES ATTACHED. They have NO INSURANCE and once they moved our stuff no reply to our emails. Their company details are a LIE! Their website details are a lie. BEWARE! STAY AWAY FROM THEM! THEY SHOULD BE PROSECUTED! We are working on it. Arrived when they said, did the complete packing service for us, and moved us all so quickly and safety.
